Congratulation to the Winning Panel of “Pharmacist Forum” in the Provincial Election of Pakistan Pharmacist Association (PPA), Baluchistan

Pharmaceutical Review (www.pharmarev.com). The provincial election of Pakistan Pharmacist Association (PPA) Baluchistan held on July 27, 2011. Two major groups appear to contest; “Pharmacist Forum” and “Professional Group”. “Pharmacist Forum” is a committed assemblage of comparatively more dynamic, progressive and competent pharmacists. They have made an alliance with “Progressive Group” at certain seats of the panel. The full panel of “Pharmacist Forum” win the election of PPA Baluchistan is as under;

President; Syed Sultlan Agha

Vice president; Jameel Khan Achakzai; Abdul  Qayum Shahwani; Faiz Asmat Ullah

General Secretary; Ghulam  Mustafa Shahwani

Joint Secretary; Naseer Baloch

Finance Secretary; Hayat Braich

Press secretary; Khuda Dad Baloch

While; the “Professional Group” existing stakeholder in Punjab, Sindh, Gilgit Bultistan, Islamabad areas and centre  is defeated at all mentioned positions and fail get even a single seat. That indicates a big change in current scenario of the pharmacy profession. Professional Group was winning all the seats of PPA (all the four provinces and centre) since last 27 years. They have maintained their hold by certain unethical and non-professional course of actions. They even did not arranged the PPA election within the time frame defined in the “article of organization” to just prolong and enjoy the privilege of leading this noble profession. Thus; they did not care about the professional issues and has focused on their own businesses, job promotions, foreign tours etc. The failure of “Professional Group” is evidenced by not implementing the Punjab drug rule 2007; not assuring the issuance of the “drugs sale license” to pharmacist only; not  designing, enforcing and approving the “pharmaceutical service structure” for public and private sector; not establishing the independent “pharmacy directorate” to assure the independent working; not properly enforcing the “salary structure” to assure the minimum starting wage of new graduates equivalent to 17th grade gazetted officer; not assuring the “new recruitments and appointments” of pharmacists in trauma centre, TB centers, operation theatres, TPN, drug information centers and Aseptic dispensing to assure the rational utilization of life saving drugs, armed forces, naval hospitals, combine military hospitals (CMH’s) in uniform, Railways, WAPDA, PTV, PIA etc on permanent and regular basis with all benefits; not assuring the pharmacist as an “important team member” of therapeutical committees, drug purchase committees and clinical pharmaceutical services departments to play as life saving professional.

Thus; now the pharmacist community is more vigilant and conscious; it is not possible to cheat them anymore. Especially; the executives of “Pharmacist Forum” Dr. Abdul Haleem Khan Chief Pharmacist Jinnah Hospital Lahore; Dr. Taha Nazir Ph.D. Associate Professor, Riphah Institurte of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Islamabad, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Faisal Hospital Pharmacist, DHQ Gujrat, Dr. Tahir Farooq  Arqam Pharmacy, Old Satellite Town, Sargodha,  Malik Muhammad Irshad Hospital Pharmacist Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, Fiaz Ahmad Faizi Allama Iqbal Town,Lahore,Pakistan, Syed Sultan Muhammad  Hospital Pharmacist, BMC Hospital, Quetta, Baluchistan; Baluchistan Syed Asmatullah, Executive District Office (Health), Noshki, Baluchistan, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed; Ph.D.  Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Dept. of Pharmacy, University of thePeshawar; Abdul Aleem Awan HazaraUniversity, Mansehra, KPK, Jumshaid Ahmad Director Marketing, Pharmevo Ltd., Karachi; Dr. Syed Muzzammil Masood Zaidi Lecturer, School of Pharmacy, University of Lahore- Islamabad Campus; Mr. Iradat Hussain Lecturer Margalla Institure of Health Sciences, Gulraiz, Ialamabad; Asaad Imran, Gillen Pharmacy, Wahdat Road, Lahore; Malik Sharif Awan, Diamond Trading Company, Gujranwala; Dr. Haroon Arshad University of Sargodha; Abdul Rub Mujahid, Muller & Phipps, Bahawalpure; Muhammad Bin Ibrahim, Muller & Phipps, Multan; Dr. M.
