The National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) final meeting was held on June 6-8, 2011 at HEC Regional Centre, Karachi to finalize the draft Curriculum for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) Program reviewed/revised by the committee in its preliminary meeting held from 28th February to 2nd March, 2011 at HEC Regional Centre, Lahore, Pakistan.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Federal Supervision of Curricula Textbooks and Maintenance of Standards of Education Act 1976, the federal government vide notification No.D773/76-JEA (Cur.), dated December 4, 1976, appointed Higher Education Commission as the competent authority to look after the curriculum revision work beyond class XII at bachelor level and onwards to all degrees, certificates and diplomas awarded by colleges, universities and other institutions of higher education. In pursuance of the above decisions and directives, the commission reviewed the curriculum of Pharm D program in collaboration with the universities and Pharmacy Council f Pakistan Moreover; the special meeting of vice-chancellors’ committee, has decided to revise the curriculum after every 3 years. For the purpose, various committees were constituted at the national level comprising senior faculty members and experts of the field. Thus, a meeting of National Curriculum Revision Committee was held on 18- 20th March 2004 at HEC regional centre, Lahore to finalize the draft of curriculum of pharmacy education prepared in its preliminary meeting held on December 18-20, 2003. This was the first ever attempt to develop a compact curriculum in pharmacy education history of Pakistan. The main objective of this curriculum was to provide a minimum baseline of syllabi for the pharmacy education and introduce the uniformity and standardization in academics. The final draft prepared by the National Curriculum Revision Committee was duly approved by competent authority and circulated for implementation by the Universities (HEC Curriculum Division, 2004). In the final meeting of National Curriculum Revision Committee held on March 18-20, 2004 wherein main points discussed were as under finalization of curriculum of Pharm-D program for both annual and semester systems, condensed /deficiency courses for 4 years B. Pharm graduates intending Pharm-D degree, M.Phil courses after B-Pharm / Pharm-D (both annual and semester systems) as under;
