Nazeer-ud-Din Ahson; Secretary Pharmacy Council, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad.
Dear Sir,
SUBJECT: Reminder – Illegal Training of Pharm-D Students of Jinnah University for Women, Karachi
As a reminder, I want to bring into your kind notice that Jinnah University for Women, Karachi is engaged in the internship of Pharm-D students by the professionals who are not concerned with the pharmacy profession at all. They are losing time by getting training through physicians only.
As per the policy of Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and all the provincial bodies of pharmacy council that a student pharmacist must be trained under the supervision of an experienced clinical pharmacist or a hospital pharmacist.
It has been noticed by the Pharmacy Graduates’ Association that the above mentioned university is doing illegal practice by sending their talented students to a physician, who is not a pharmacy professional nor having any experience of hospital pharmacy/clinical pharmacy in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Karachi.
“This can be understood in the sense that what if an MBBS student is doing house job/training under the supervision of a Pharmacist in a hospital?”
It is therefore requested that the management of the Jinnah University including Vice Chancellor and Registrar may please be advised to refrain this practice with immediate effect so that future of Pharm-D students could be saved by providing them accurate training under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
Pharmacy Graduates’ Association is very anxious about the future of Pharm-D students and requests your honor to take immediate action and advice the university to stop forgery and be advised that they should take training from hospital/clinical pharmacist present at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi.
I am hoping your immediate action under intimation to Pharmacy Graduates’ Association for further communication to all concerns.
With best wishes,
Dr. Khawar Khalid, Pharm-D, RPh
