Qurat Ul Yasmin (Pharmaceutical Review). Number of metallic salts acts as a systemic poison.

Arsenic poisoning results in gingivitis and stomatitis. There may be hyper keratosis, hyperpigmentation and neurological disturbances.

Lead poisoning: leads to excessive salivation,metallic taste,swelling of salivary glands and a dark line along gingival margin. microscopically the lead line consist of granular pigment deposit in perivascular areas of submucosa and the basement membrane. Pigment is lead sulphide.

Bismuth poisoning: results in metallic taste, burning sensation of oral mucosa and a bismuth line and occurs with gingival margin in patients with poor oral hygiene. Microscopically, granular deposit of black pigment is seen in submucosa.

Metallic mercury poisoning leads to tremors and emotional instability. Oral manifestation leads to increased salivation, stomatitis, glossotitis and swelling of salivary glands. In some cases black gingiva is seen.

Silver contact produces argyria. Skin and oral mucous membrane acquire an ashen grey hue. Microscopic section show a deposit of fine black granular pigment in the sub epithelial connective tissues

Phosphorus poisoning: results in osteomyelitis of maxilla and mandible.

The health sector is a neglected area and we are far behind as compared to the developed world. There is hardly any concept of pharmaceutical care in our society. Universities are producing Pharm Ds but their role in society is yet to be defined and recognized. Owing to prevailing circumstances, most of the pharmacists are leaving Pakistan for a better future.

Therefore; it is request to the provincial government to immediately announce the implementation of service structure of pharmacists as the Constitution guarantees equality of every citizen without any discrimination.

Ajaz Ali (Pharmaceutical Review). Dr. Linus Pauling, a two-time Nobel Prize winner, took high doses of vitamin C for almost forty years and died at the ripe old age of ninety-three. He believed that his life was prolonged for twenty years because of his high vitamin C intake. Sounds great, and Pauling certainly makes a valid argument but unfortunately there isn’t any strong evidence to support this claim.

Vitamin C and vitamin E, often referred to as antioxidant vitamins, have been suggested to prevent cell damage in humans, thereby lowering the risk of certain chronic diseases including high blood pressure, stroke, and asthma. Many studies have tried to prove this, but with no obvious results. Very few side effects exist with vitamin C, so there is no major downside to adding a vitamin C supplement to your daily regimen, though occasional reports of nausea, heartburn, gas, or diarrhea are noted with higher doses. A more prudent approach is to eat a balanced diet including fruits and vegetables and avoid dangerous activities like smoking.

Qurat Ul Yasmin May 31, 2011 (Pharmaceutical Review). This is apropos of injustice done to pharmacists in the health department, Punjab. I’m at present working as secretary of the District Quality Control Board, Gujranwala. I have done my M.Phil (Pharmacy), besides MBA and LLB. I’m at present working in BPS 17. It means we really need service structure for pharmacy profession. Thus; the health department to suppose to award us at least grade 18 and also submitted our annual reports of the last 18 years. There are lots of pharmacists going through this crisis. But it seems that Punjab government is indifferent to the problems of pharmacists because it their least priority.

Obesity, heart disease, hypertension and stroke are inversely related to sunlight exposure and vitamin D levels. Psoriasis, eczema, and periodontal disease are lessened by sunlight exposure and high serum vitamin D. Fertility is positively influenced by sunlight exposure and high vitamin D levels. Sunlight enhances immune system function by producing vitamin D. Dozens of disorders other than those mentioned in this summary are related to vitamin D deficiency.

Abstract

Rational drug usage, clinical regulations and pharmaceutical care are important features of health practice. Thus; we have aimed case report to elaborate the clinical pharmaceutical services. A 3 year old girl, was presented in a hospital with minor burn that happened by spilt hot water on her wrist. She was in severe pain. The emergency ward staff applied an ointment. The doctor instructed injection Dormicum two times with short gape and then 3rd injection of Pavulon (Pancuronium). Patient went silent and started losing consciousness and eventually passed away. In view of the above facts and circumstances the inquiry board and judiciary took action against the negligence, mishandling. While; going through the investigation the inquiry board did not bothered the channel through which this injection came without proper check that is therapeutical drug monitoring, prescription reviewing, biosafety and pharmaceutical evaluation. Furthermore, it is not a single death but representation of so many casualties because of the wrong medications. The medial practice needs some more legal, professional and principled restrictions to make sure the safe and correct therapy plans. The clinical legislation, drug rules and medical practice seriously need the attention of judiciary, society and leadership to assure the safety of precious live.
