This is with reference to you letter, just for your information that with the exclusive efforts of Pakistan Pharmacists Association under the chairmanship of S Khalid Saeed Bukhari we have achieved a lot especially in the public sector, issuance of the such notifications you have given the reference is the prove of such efforts.

In my opinion any person having no experience of  working in the public sector can not oversee the functioning of the public sector, I am afraid that your information is not correct that in Punjab hospital hospital services are not being done, These are being done more or less in every hospital including we have not seen yet the establishment of  pharmaceutical services, pharmacovigilance,  ADR reporting, drug information and poison control centers.and data is being collected at Secretariat level effectively

Being a government side functionary at the senior position in drug control organization, I wish that our colleagues should not spread any false/wrong / misleading and unauthenticated information like in you letter in the last line of first para.

For your information we have achieved another target of having pharmacists in the hospital with the ratio of one for fifty beds and Punjab health department is working actively on it, notification has already been issued and now data / requirement is being collected form all hospital in order to have total number requirement in the hospitals.

We are writing with great concern to the implementation of pharmacy services in health institutions/ hospital under notification of Govt. of the Punjab, Health Department, dated: 01/10/2012, [Reference letter No. SO(DC) 6-6/2011(P)]. We always keep the record, track and follow-up such notifications issued by Ministry of Health, provincial Health Departments, Pharmacy Councils and other health/ pharmacy authorities. It has been around more than seven months, we have not seen yet the establishment of  pharmaceutical services, pharmacovigilance,  ADR reporting, drug information and poison control centers at provincial and hospital level under the Ordinance of Drug Regulatory  Agency promulgated on 16th February, 2012 vide No. F.2(1)/2012-pub. We have visited different hospitals of Punjab to observe the implementation. But, unluckily there is no proper establishment of even a single component of pharmaceutical care in any institution of Punjab province.

Thus; being executives of Pakistan Pharmacist Federation (https://pharmafed.com/Sakeholders.html) we have decided to launched campaign to assure the establishment of pharmaceutical and clinical services in real sense. We will ensure appropriate establishment of pharmacy system and following the aforesaid direction of Punjab Health Department.

Referring to subject cited I am pleasured to share that Management Sciences for Health (MSH), the Rockefeller Foundation, and Harvard Medical School are hosting an event – “Medicines as Part of Universal Health Coverage: Starting a Dialogue”, to be held in Washington, DC, June 3 to 4, 2013.
